Sophie Deleuze

Lead ESG Sovereign Analyst

Sophie Deleuze became Lead ESG Sovereign Analyst at Candriam in 2025. Previously, she led Candriam Engagement and Voting team, where she specialized in dialogue, voting, and other stewardship efforts, coordinating our engagement in concert with our ESG analysis and with all our investment management teams since 2016. Sophie joined Candriam's ESG Research Department at its inception in 2005 as an ESG sector analyst.  

With a background in industry as a water engineer, she entered sustainable investing at Arese in 2001. Sophie has been a participant in the Candriam charity Helping Those Who Help since 2014, and is active in local community projects. 

Sophie holds an Engineering Degree in Water Treatment, a Masters in Public Environmental Affairs, and is a graduate of EFP Belgium in Nursing and Retirement Home Management.

The United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) urge companies to respect human rights and correct abuses when they occur. They call on companies to conduct human rights due diligence to “know and show” they respect human rights through their own activities, and the activities directly linked to their products, services, operations, and through their business relationships.
